Web is suppose to create using standard mark-up which is been published by www.w3.org/MarkUp organization. So any person can follow those easiliy.
While all other browser developers respect that and make their browsers accordingly. But Microsoft introduced their own standards (proprietary) ActivX like technologies to get done the same thing those will only work on IE which are hardly been documented for easy reference unless you are a MSDN developer.
So it is very hard for web designers to follow those unless they have programing skills. Web Design tools like dreamweaver doest not help in this either.
These papers used these methods to publish papers in Sinhala because Sinhala Unicode wasn't availabale at that time. Don't forget some of these papers were pioneers of Online Sinhala Newspapers.
They still use the same techniques yet, they have to update their sites to support WC3 standards so we can view these pages in every browser.
So like many have commented it's a not a problem of FF or any other. It's a problem of the publisher and Microsoft who follow their own methods, still we can't balm them that there was a time they couldn't do otherwise.

ලංකාවේ පත්තර කිහිපයක් ඇරෙන්න අනෙක්වා යුනිකෝඩ් භාවිතා නොකරයි. එය බ්රවුසරයේ ගැටලුවක් නෙමේ,

Internet Explora වලින් eot ක්රමය වැඩ කරනවා.. අනිත් බ්රවුසර බලන්න ඇත්ත තෙරෙයි.
බ්රවුසර හදන්නේ ලංකාවේ හදන කිසිම සම්මතයක් නැති වෙබ් බලාගන්න නෙමේ. :P
